Why you go Lateral to get Your Horse Straight

One of the best ways to keep your sound is to improve their straightness, so they are evenly powering off each limb and using both sides of their body fairly symmetrically (perfect symmetry is never the goal). It’s counterintuitive, but to improve your horse’s straightness, you need to include lateral work in your program.

This webinar is a deep dive into lateral work. We’ll review different types of lateral work, what they require from the horse and rider to perform the movement, and how to use that movement to strengthen a specific weakness. You’ll receive a helpful “movement guide” to help you decide what to include in your horse’s program.

The webinar drops in the Ride Well group on 02/18/25, or can be purchased individually.

Groundwork & Ridden Exercises: When to use What

Imagine this - you’ve identified strengths and weaknesses in your horse's shoulder and pelvic girdles. You’re super excited to improve these muscle groups and watch your horse power across the ground. You sit down to create a training program and nail it! You create a mix of groundwork and ridden exercises, and have a solid understanding of when to use what type of exercise. You know how to progress and regress exercises, based on your horse’s performance. You’re so excited to get started!

This webinar helps you achieve that goal! It’s all about different types of exercises, and the value they add to your training program. You’ll learn how to assess if an exercise's difficulty is too easy, too hard, or just right, and how to make adjustments. We’ll also review how to monitor fatigue in your horse, both from a nervous system and muscle point of view. This can be such a game changer in developing your horse’s muscles and coordination.

The webinar drops in the Ride Well group on 02/04/25, or can be purchased individually.

The Role of the Shoulder and Pelvic Muscle Slings in Horses

This webinar is called “The Role of Shoulder and Pelvic Muscle Slings in Horses.” It begins the journey of understanding your horse's anatomy, and how you can help them to carry a rider. We ask horses to jump, turn, go lateral, carry us up and down hills, make quick pivots, and lots of other athletic moves, so let’s get their bodies prepared to handle those forces.

In this training, we focus on the shoulder and pelvic girdles, and how the muscular slings work to power your horse. It's incredibly important to properly strengthen these muscle groups in your horse because this sets the stage for quality movement and soundness.

This webinar focuses on the "what" and "why." What are the slings? Why are they important? What do they do? What does quality movement look like? Why does posture matter? In future webinars, we'll break down the "how" and discuss assessment and strength training for these muscle groups.

The webinar drops in the Ride Well group on 01/07/25, or can be purchased individually.

Color Your Way to Better Horsemanship

Are you looking to improve your riding and coaching skills while also enjoying a fun and creative activity? Look no further! Intrepid Wellness is excited to introduce "Color Your Way to Better Riding."

I’ve designed this live, in-person class to teach riders and coaches important anatomy concepts that will help you elevate your riding and be a better steward for your horse. If you have a strong working knowledge of how horses move, you can translate that to your training and teaching programs.

I invite you to come spend an afternoon immersing yourself in equine anatomy and biomechanics. You’ll be working with a live horse and a coloring book and will walk away feeling empowered because you understand your horse better.

We’ll learn, laugh, and play with color books and chalk. Reserve your spot today.
